So what are we up to?
This Saturday we are off to Quilt Market which is a trade only show and always fun to see what new fabrics are coming out and the current trends. We always find ourselves a bit different to whats there which is good for us. And we always come home with more ideas.
We are still working on the samples for Karen and Summer school in the opposite colour ways to what each other has already done.

Lost in the world of......

Well it has been a while again since we posted on our Blog. We get so caught up in the easy world of Instagram and also Lou does Facebook that our poor Blog gets very neglected. So then I thought maybe we should make one day of the week Blog day but.......which day should that be and what if we have nothing to say! mmm who us 2 nothing to say.... Yes I hear all our friends laughing at the moment going yeah right you 2 speechless!!
So what have we been doing?
First we have Summer School on the 17th January with Mrs Martins Quilt Shop so we have been busy finishing samples for this fun day.

Barb our lovely side kick of Theodora Cleave fame will be joining us for the day with her gorgeous buttons also.
You can call Karen if you would like to join us she said today we have about 6 places left so be quick.

A couple of weeks ago we added a column on the right for where we will be next year.
We are pleased to announce we will be having 4 relax and sew days in conjunction with Lilly Patches.
These are days you can come along and work on anything you would like to. See the dates to the right and call June if you would like to put your name on the list as numbers will be limited.

On the 11th July Barb and Max & Louise will be having a Christmas in July workshop at the Uniting Church in Boronia also ran in conjunction with June from Lilly Patches.
Come along for a great day of Christmas projects designed by Barb and ourselves. Go home with patterns for all the projects from the day. More info to come end of February for that day.

We are also very excited to have been asked to design a quilt and teach for the Ballaarat Quilters 20th Birthday retreat in November next year. We are very honored to have been invited to such a special occasion with these ladies, and have already so many ideas for how their special quilt will come together.

Also we hope to run our first ever weekend away in August so watch this space!!

And last but not least we are hoping to have our first booth at Houston International Quilt market next year!!
We are pretty excited about that we can tell you now.
So we have 9 new patterns for next year on the drawing board ranging from mini quilts to big quilts some stitchery, applique and loads of inspiration for our antique treasures.
If you don't follow us on Instagram or Facebook you may like to as we really have become lazy bloggers but promise to try a little harder ok!
So maybe Blog day can be Wednesday not sure why other than its "hump day"
See you all next Wednesday!!!
Lisa & Lou.

Hugo's quilt

I made a bright little quilt for baby Hugo this week (my cousin's new baby).
When I make a quilt for children, it has to be able to withstand lots of washing because baby's poop and throw up on everything!

I used a "what's bugging you" panel
by Sue Marsh that I bought from Lilly Patches last week, 3 fat quarters and a half metre and polar fleece on the back.   Hopefully little Hugo will enjoy snuggling under this simple quilt.

Thought I'd share my binding tip with you.
I fold my binding strip concertina style

and pop it into a zip lock bag. I have this sitting to the left of my trusty old Janome so that it doesn't get tangled or caught up as I sew it onto the quilt in the usual way.

With baby quilts, I've decided to fold the binding over and stitch it by machine.
My thoughts are that this will withstand washing over and over and over and over.....

We are off to the trade show tomorrow and I'm hoping to get Tom & Ruve's Glacier Star quilted in the afternoon. Then I can get started on the appliqué for our newest big quilt that we hope to release next year.
Lisa is already working on hers.... She's a machine at the moment! Multitasking as she does so well, making 3 gift quilts for Christmas too.
Until next time,
Lisa & Lou

Workshop with Essendon Quilters Inc

A huge thank you to Lorraine, Simone & Janette for inviting us to do a workshop for Essendon Quilters.  Yesterday we headed off to Essendon for a fantastic day of teaching our Bellmont House pattern with ladies from Essendon Quilters and their friends.
Here's some pics for you:

The very talented Barb Smith of Theodora Cleave was there too selling her gorgeous buttons and embellishments.

As was Joanne from Tranquility Crafts & Supplies who brought along her "pop-up shop".  We're sure she sold lots of EPP shapes and glue sticks!

And lastly have a look at the tables that Simone & Lorraine decorated.
They looked so fantastic and the biscuits, lollies and morning and afternoon tea were yummmmmy.

Happy stitching

Lou & Lisa

Bellmont House and more....

Hi everyone, we are very excited to add our new pattern Bellmont House to the blog.

This pattern is a little different for us!
There are 6 small quilts and 6 Canvas works.
Each canvas is a bigger version of the block in a small quilt and is then appliqued, and treasures like old buttons, doilies etc are added. A bit of fun.
We will be teaching Bellmont House for the Essendon Quilters in October!!
See post from May 17 for some close up pics too.

We taught for the lovely Kim at Jukejema Quilting Barn in Nowra last week. It was a great class and the ladies were so friendly. Thanks so much to you all for coming along to spend a day with us. Kim also gave us these lovely bags to remind us of her beautiful part of Australia.

We also had some retail therapy at Jukejema, the Sydney Quilt Show and Quiltsmith.

Here are some of our fabrics that "had to come home"

We have 2 new quilts just about finished so the pattern writing will begin shortly and a third one started.
we will have pics for you as soon as they are ready.

Lisa has also started the Sundial Coverlet from Magic Patch Quilting in Tyabb!!

See now I have told the world I better get moving and keep up or catch up mmm
will post my progress in Instagram for that one as it's so easy to use.
I look organised but..

We are also excited the Lenora from Elm Grove Patchwork is now stocking our patterns. Thanks Lenora!
her details are in our stockists on the right.

Thanks for visiting and have a great day!
