Gracedale Doves workshop at Lilly Patches

This afternoon we taught another Gracedale Doves workshop. This time at Lilly Patches in Boronia.

We like to keep classes small for this quilt and  8 ladies was perfect.
We had a bag of goodies for each:
Including a Gracedale Doves pattern, our two free patterns: mug bag and coaster pattern and the rotary cutter snap bag pattern, a Pap smear brush ( not to do you own Pap smears!!! They are fantastic for cleaning the lint from your sewing machine) and a chocolate each.

Here are the amazing achievements of our 8 wonderful ladies:
THANKYOU June for another wonderful day in your shop and to our lovely students.
Hope you enjoyed yourselves.

Winter Antics and our newest designs

on Saturday 14th June we are teaching our fourth workshop day with June at Lilly Patches.
Our design includes some work that is definately a little different for us.
We hope you like them.
June has arranged a different venue this time.  I bigger hall and more natural light, so if you haven't booked in yet, give June a call.

We have six mini quilts and six co-ordinating quilts that are stretched over a canvas.
Here are pictures of what we will be teaching on the day:

June has requirements list's available now.  If you are planning to do any of the projects from the last two photo's there is some homework to do too.

Laurel is also teaching this lovely pillow:

Looking forward to another great day.  We LOVE workshop days.

Until next time,
Lou & Lisa

Winter Antics and upcoming workshops

Yes, we are still around.....I'm sure you'll agree time is flying by....May! Really????
Our apologies for not updating our blog sooner.
We have dates to share with you....

On Saturday 24th May we will be at Pakenham Quilt In for a trunk show type presentation.  We know some ladies from Pakenham Patchworkers and Quilters Group so it will be a great change to catch up and meet new people.
We will have lots of quilts to share with you and Mrs Martin's Quilt Shop will have our patterns for sale with some starter kits too.

Wednesday May 28th we will be at Essendon Quilters' night meeting with quilts to show and patterns for sale....and yes.... we are going to be talking to these wonderful ladies..... a daunting thought as we are not confident public speakers!  wish us luck....

Saturday May 31st we are at Magic Patch Quilting in Tyabb.  We are having a workshop with Airlie & Cranbrook patterns.  You get to choose which of the patterns you work on on the day.  If you give Carol a call, she can let you know if there is any space left.

Sunday May 1st we will be at the Waverley Quilt Show, always a great show with wonderful shops selling their wares.

If you haven't bought a raffle ticket for this quilt, they are still available at @2 each.  I know June at Lilly Patches has tickets for sale.

We hope to see you VERY soon at one of these events or at our regular classes at Lilly Patches.

Baby Janes

We had our Baby Janes sewing group on Friday night at Lilly Patches in Boronia.
As always we had a great night and here's what some of the ladies were working on:

Maureen finished one of our designs: "Tessellate":

Close up of the centre block:

She has done a lovely job.  Unfortunately the photos don't do it justice.

Divna had this jelly roll quilt top finished(a present for a loved one:

And was working on some Crochet:

Just love this granny squares rug she is working on.

Then Robyn was working on a design that she created herself. She drew her inspiration from a motif on a birthday card:

She is blanket stitching this on her machine and the stitches are fantastic.  Might have to try machine blanket stitch one day! This is going to be stunning when it's finished.

Fiona was working on these wonderful little 3/8" hexies:

Not all sewn together yet, but we couldn't resist laying out all the hexies she's done to see how it's growing. She has fussy cut everything. She also had her Summer Dresden quilt with her that she making with fabrics bought in Japan last year.
Unfortunately everyone else liked this too, so no chance of sneaking this one home in my basket!  But we did buy some small hexie papers!

We didn't get pics of the rest, sorry. Jenny was working on stitcheries for baby quilt number 8. Her friends keep having babies!  Julie was working on clam shells and Laurel was working on some lovely embroidery.

Lisa and I were both working on the centre appliqué of our newest design.
We will hopefully be able to show you pictures soon.

Last night we went to White Night in Melbourne. Check out our Instagram for some pics we uploaded last night.

We hope you all have a great week,
Lou & Lisa

Glacier Star

When we, my hubby Jody & I, visit his dad, Tom, and step-mum, Ruve, I ALWAYS take hand sewing. They live in a sleepy country town and we relax the weekend away and of course for me, that means sewing time!

Earlier this year Tom asked what I do with all these quilts?  Jody's prompt reply was "They're all over the house!!!!"  That may be true, but I have made a lot of quilts for family and friends too, and of course quilts as samples for Max & Louise.

Tom then asked if I would make him & Ruve a quilt.... And here it is:

It's Glacier Star designed by Judy & Bradley Niemeyer.

I did this as a class at Lilly Patches in Boronia, taught by Anne-Marie Campbell. I love foundation piecing and Judy's method is great. As is her curved seam method.

Glacier Star finished 60 1/2" square. I'm just adding a 5" border all the way around to make it little bigger. Then a big all over feather quilting and I'll actually have one Christmas present finished!!!

Please tell me there are other people around that are as unorganized for Christmas as we are??? Please??? 6 weeks to go!  Presents to be bought and made, and lunch and dinner on Christmas Day for 30. Not panicking .... YET!!!

And I'm pleased to say that Lisa is the same (although she has planned all he pressies)!

THANKYOU for the positive feedback we've had for our Airlie and Cranbrook patterns. We are pleased to advise that Mrs Martin's Summer School is now booked out. Can't wait.....

A very productive Spring Fling workshop

What a great day we had!
We had fun from start to finish and judging by the chatter and laughter we heard throughout the day and the productivity we saw, so did the 40 wonderful women who attended Lilly Patches' Spring Fling yesterday.
We were teaching our new Colours Of Spring pattern.
Here are some pictures of the projects ladies were working on....
Family Garden:

Vintage Jewels:

Sunburst:
(My apologies to the ladies doing Sunburst as
I didn't get photo's of your work.....)

Fly Away Peter:

And lastly Ada had her completed top of our
The Unknown Quilt.... Its gorgeous Ada!

Jill and Jenny were also teaching at Spring Fling.  The ladies working on their hexagon bags and Christmas wall hanging seamed to be working very diligently.

Special thanks to June and Karen Wilson.  We are so grateful for their friendship and support.  In the early days of quilting, when we would shop with toddlers & babies in prams, June was always so welcoming and lovely.
We have been shopping at Lilly Patches ever since.

Karen took our photo yesterday for Quilters Companion magazine.  She did a great job handling two women who hate having their photo taken!!  Thanks Karen.

Thanks to all for a great day.
We hope you all had as much fun as we did.
