Valley Hues is our 15th range of fabrics with Andover Fabrics.
This collection
is rooted in the mid to late 1800’s, when florals, stripes, and shirtings were
essential to both clothing and quilts. The designs draw directly from period
textiles — tossed bouquets reminiscent of English chintzes, elegant ribbon-like
stripes, and finely detailed shirtings that brought sparkle to patchwork.
The colour palette
is inspired by the hydrangeas of the Yarra Valley in autumn, their petals
shifting from soft rose and dusky lavender to weathered blues, earthy browns,
and hints of antique gold. These shades echo the natural dyes and timeworn look
of 19th-century fabrics while adding a uniquely local connection to the
Australian landscape.
Together, the
prints create the layered, scrappy look loved by 19th century
quilters. They offer today’s makers the chance to stitch with fabrics that feel
both historically authentic and beautifully timeless — a true meeting of past
and present.
Valley Hues fabrics are ideal for authentic reproduction quilts, or
simply for anyone who loves the warmth of vintage colour and design.
We hope you love these fabrics as much as we do.
...Did we mention wide-backs!! We are so excited to share our first wide-back fabrics with you. You'll find them at the end....
