Hazelmont Farm is our latest range by Andover Fabrics.
These fabrics are inspired by mid-to-late 1800's American conversational and shirting prints from our collections.
Conversational Prints (Novelty Prints)
were popular from the mid-19th century. They featured small,
whimsical motifs like animals, objects, and scenic elements. In Hazelmont
Farm we feature cats, dogs, rabbits and an elephant. These designs became
increasingly fashionable after the advent of roller printing. Today as
quilters, we use them to add an extra bit of magic and interest to our
quilts. They are also popular for use in children’s clothing and
accessories.
Shirting Prints are also
typically small-scale, geometric, or floral designs in repeating
patterns. Traditionally common colour schemes included indigo and white,
brown and white, or red and white, as well as soft pastels. We continue to
colour our prints to honour tradition whilst working with our previous and
upcoming fabric ranges. In history, these fabrics were widely used for men’s
and women’s everyday shirts, dresses, and household textiles. Today, in
quilts, they feature alongside coloured fabrics of all genres.
We hope they'll find their way into your latest sewing creation.
