January 2019

While Lou and her family were still holidaying in the USA, Lisa was creating with our Yarra Valley fabrics (together with some Nicholson Street shirtings and some fabrics from her stash).

Maree of Maree St Clair Quilts has made templates of our Andover free pattern Yarra River.
She sent us a set to play with...

And our friend Jenny (Instagram: tossed_but_not_sunk), was starting on a new quilt. She makes stunning quilts using reproduction fabrics and others with original old fabrics.  This block has a cheddar from Yarra Valley and a shirting from Nicholson Street.  You can see more of what Jenny is up to on her Instagram page.

Meanwhile back in New York City Lou had a couple of meetings at Andover Fabrics.  More fun than work, Lou was seeing how fabric is created behind the scenes. It was fascinating.  Next time we will be there together!  This is the elevator door to Andover. So special it was worth a photo!

See you soon for Feb's catch up.

December 2018

December is always a quieter time for Max & Louise. We take advantage of this time to unwind, spend time with family & friends, and of course prepare for Christmas. For Lisa this includes loads of long arm quilting to get all her customer quilts done for Christmas gifts.

This year was extra special for Lou and her family as they were off to the USA to spend the holidays with Lou''s cousins.

Her packing included three quilts packed for special gifts. And of course Lisa quilted all of these on her long arm as well as a HEAP of other quilts for people just in time for Christmas!
Hint: if you want a quilt quilted for Christmas, get sewing and contact Lisa to book your spot.
Lou made Lufra House for her cousin Marcella using Nicholson Street shirtings & fabrics from her stash.
A Kangaroo quilt for a sweet little nephew
(Sorry, this isn't our design and I can't find the magazine it was in to tell you whose design it is).
A circles in squares quilt for her cousin Carol in Japanese fabrics.

In California Lou & her family did some of the famous tourist sites including:
Disney Land & Disney California Adventure Park
Warner Brothers where we had lunch at  Lorelai & Rory's house (Gilmore Girls)
Family selfie at the Holllywood Walk of Fame
Fireworks over Hogwarts Castle (we are Harry Potter fans!)
   Laguna Beach
Snow at the Grand Canyon (in Arizona)
And of course we found quilt shops!

Back in Australia happy mail came with our Yarra Valley fabrics by Andover....

To say we were excited was an understatement!

See you soon for January's catch up!

November 2018

In November Lisa was still road tripping around the US with Sue but, as they say, all good things must come to an end, and she came home with treasures! We will just show you a couple of sneaky pics....

We have our "Cora Lyn" quilts ready for publishing in Today's Quilter magazine.  A  beautiful English publication. Issue 46 was in stores in February 2019 and may still be available if you contact Immediate Media...
The above quilt is Lou's & features our Nicholson Street shirtings in all the backgrounds together with a selection of Andover Fabrics by Di Ford-Hall & Edyta Sitar for the borders & applique.

Lisa's quilt (below) features many of Kathy Hall's fabrics together with our Nicholson Street shirtings (both by Andover) & fabrics from her stash.

"Cora Lyn" is a classic example of how different the same design looks based on your fabric choices.

And finally, we have to sneak in this pic from Maree St Clair Quilts with a sneaky Elf on the Shelf with our Nicholson Street shirtings.

Thanks for popping by... see you soon for our December catch up.

October 2018

Look at this. 2 posts in 2 days!  And we have to tell you we had one of those "Doh!" moments today. Lou's eldest daughter Jordon asked why we didn't use the Blogger app to do posts???????  Well of course a millennial who works in media would state the obvious!!!😏

October 2018 was a dream month for us.  Our second fabric range, Yarra Valley, was to be promoted at Quilt Market in Houston and Lisa went to represent us.

We had quilts on the Andover stall too..... this really is the stuff we dream about....

Facing a crowd of shop owners & industry professionals Lisa spoke at School House.  The feedback from friends was fantastic! Those that know Lisa can attest to how great she is at public speaking.

This is a waterfall of our Nicholson Street shirtings & the storyboard for range 2, Yarra Valley.

With great friends Betsy Chutchian, Lisa and Michelle Yeo.

And now some favourite road trip pics with Sue Holbrook

Isn't this just such a great barn?
 Pumpkins!

And of course, no road trip is complete without antique quilts.

Thanks for recapping October 2018 with us...

September 2018

12 months... really??? Yep, it has been twelve crazy fun months and we are going to try and catch up!  Lets see if we can cover 12 months in 12 days?  Remember when you were young and you kept a dairy? Did you write in every day? or were you like us, started out with the best of intentions and then other things, life, got in the way?   Is that all quilters? Is that why we have UFO's  PHD's... or as Lisa calls them "options"?

Fingers crossed, lets see how we go...
Sept 2018 started with the annual Everything Patchwork & Quilting Show. This wonderful event is a fundraiser for the local CFA (Country Fire Authority) and as you may remember we live in Healesville. A township all too aware of how important the local CFA is.
We like to release a new pattern at this show each year. In Sept 2018 we released Old Courthouse 1890.

We love this quilt! It's easy to make it bigger or smaller and there is no curved piecing.
Here's some close ups to tempt you...

It just so happens that the show is on again this Saturday. If you have some spare time and want to see some great local quilts and buy from some great traders, pop on down. We would love to see you!
