We're back!!

Hi everyone we're back!!!

We have been in sewing hibernation.

The normal life things seem to have temporarily taken over but it's back to making quilts again.

We are teaching an Autumn Stitch in Day

at Lilypatches on Saturday April 13th

then at Magic Patch Quilting June 8th.

We have busy getting our projects done.

Lou has made this gorgeous wall hanging using a mix of fabric and wool felt.

And she also making a paper pieced wedding ring style small quilt.

 

Lisa is making a hand pieced mini quilt of 4 circular blocks

(not ironed yet!!)
these are 2 of the blocks in progress.

And also an applique that is still in drawing form so hope to start that this weekend.

Remember a while back we showed you Maureen's embroidered mice?

well she turned them into a sewing caddy and just beautiful it is!

She is very clever!!

Also clever is Marie from our sat night group. She is making our Unknown Quilt and her colours are amazing......

She has used a print that looks like crazy patchwork for her bias strip and it's so effective.

And last but not least, it's not a quilt but just as amazing.....

Lisa's friend Carol from work made this cake and it was so yummy.

it uses soft drink as the liquid in the mix and also instant pudding, it's so moist. Chocolate cake uses Coke, Vanilla cake uses Lemonade and so on who would have thought.

Lisa works for a book company and found it in a new book, showed Carol and she said"I'm going to make that" and she did!!!!! Your great Carol!

So here's to some productive sewing so we can show you our finished mini quilts.

Cherry's Hall workshop at Magic Patch Quilting, Tyabb

Bright and early on Saturday morning, we left the beautiful Yarra Valley for a sea change.  

Destination - Tyabb and the the beautiful Magic Patch Quilting.

We were asked to teach a "Cherry's Hall" workshop.

 We had 17 AMAZING ladies in the class.  

  They were a very friendly group and we had a wonderful time.

 We think they did too!

 We love that when a group of quilters get together, the chatter and the laughter always seem to go hand in hand.  It's the best therapy money can buy!

Did you notice the quilting caddy sitting on the table?? (cream with pomegranate wool felt applique)....
It was a class Carol held in 2011 (I think).  It was sew(!) cute..... It's big enough to fit a rotary cutter and a few other necessities.  It's on my list to speak to Carol about next time.

Speaking of next time, we have been asked back to teach another workshop in June.  It's sure to be another  wonderful day.

Carol has our new pattern "Tessellate" in stock as well as all of our other patterns.  She has Lou's "Tessellate" quilt and both of our "18th Century Star" Quilts on display.  Be sure to pop in and have a  look at our quilts and of course, Carol's fantastic reproduction fabric range (& other fabrics too)...... I'm sure I spotted some new William Morris there.....

OUR NEWEST QUILT... TESSELLATE

We finally have some show and tell of our own for you.  After many, many late nights and lots and lots of drawing, we have a new quilt to share with you.

Our new quilt is inspired from a few different antique treasures.
It is a mix of tessellation mosaic floors from churches and ancient sites from Europe, blended together to create our tribute to these beautiful works of art.

We hope you like it.

So who's quilt is whose?
Will we keep you guessing...... for those that know us well, I'm sure it won't be too hard to work out!
Lisa's version is the one to the left of screen below, Lou's, is the other!

We quilted these on Lisa's Gammill.  Lou's tried her hand at feathers (don't look to closely though) and Lisa also did something new with flowers and swirls.  We are really happy with how they turned out.

Tessellate will be available for purchase from Lilly Patches in Boronia from Friday January 18th and also from  Magic Patch Quilting in Tyabb from Saturday 19th January, where we will be teaching a Cherry's Hall workshop this Saturday.

Happy New Year All.....

 Rusty our peacock is in full party swing today!!

Glad he's up to party mode which is more than we can say.

So here's hoping you all have a fantastic New Year.

Don't normally make any resolutions except maybe that going to loose weight one..mmm

So here's to lots of quilting

Lots of fabric purchases

Lots of finishing of our PHD's because we are very smart!!

Lots of quilting gathering with our friends

Lots of road trips, near and far

Lots of new quilts as we have sooo many idea's

and of course lots of chocolate hence why the resolution thing never works!!

Christmas at Sandra's

Last Saturday night was our Sandlyn Christmas party hosted yet again by dear Sandra!

She had done a wonderful job setting up her home to have us all over for dinner.

The evening starts by decorating the Christmas tree and carols.

Then we all move out to the dining room for our yummy dinner.

Sandra cooks roast pork with amazing crackle ( the best bit right!) and turkey. Then we all bring either salad or dessert to share. We have the best time together.

After dinner there is gift giving.

For those who want to participate you make a mini quilt and wrap it.

Everyone gets a number and the parcels are handed out.

Then everyone unwraps to reveal gorgeous mini quilts!!!!

 

This is the back of red quilt above. Christine quilted it on her long arm for Val!!

These two are from last years exchange and came back for show and tell.

We then had some show and tell from Sandra.

She recently entered two quilt in the Lilydale show and both won prizes! Well done Sandra.

Even the back is stunning.

Love the fabrics in this quilt.

Love this strippy quilt too!

Hopefully in the next two weeks we will have our new quilt to show you all. We are hoping to release it at the Annual Outer Eastern Fabric Frolic that will start on Jan 18th.

UNKNOWN QUILT WORKSHOP @ LILLY PATCHES

What a great day we had today.

We taught a workshop for The Unknown Quilt at Lilly Patches in Boronia.
Sue was the star of the day, having started her cactus rose flowers before coming to class.  Her pink and brown version is going to be gorgeous.
Sue, Cheryl and Ada have all done some hexagons too.  With fussy cutting for many of the fabrics, they are looking fantastic.
Kaye was a surprise close second to Sue in the Speedy Gonzales stakes!  She was quietly working away until she finished with a very beautiful flower with cheddar points to make it simply pop.
Fiona is making a red & white version that would have looked fantastic at Quilts in the Barn this year. 
Sandra's blue and brown version is already warm and muted. 
Cheryl's muted tones will come together is Charyl's usual amazing style. Over the years we have known each other, our fabric tastes have change together from Debbie Mumm and all things country, to Robyn Pandolph's florals to our favourite reproduction fabrics. 
And lastly, but certainly not least, Margaret's version with blacks and shirting and other colours, yet to be decided, finally came together.  Margaret decided her "spacial recognition was lacking" but her colour choices never do.

 

 

Overall a productive day and loads of fun.
