Colours of Spring

Today we took the photo's for our new Colours of Spring pattern.
There are 4 quilts in this pattern with a combination of hand, machine, English paper piecing, appliqué, and water colour with pencils and stitchery.

We had a couple of helpers of the 4 legged kind. The German Shepherd is one of the "Max's" of Max & Louise Pattern Co. And the other is Jasper the Jack Russell... the boss of course!

Here are some close ups...

We are very Happy that the "Spring Fling Day" for these quilts at Lilly Patches is booked out!
Looking forward to a lovely day with all the ladies who are coming to spend a great day with us.
The pattern will be available for these quilts after October 4th.

Below are some small pics of some of the projects for Mrs Martin's Summer School on the 18th of January. There will be 7 projects for this day.
They will be a combination of hand, machine, English paper piecing, appliqué and wool.

Hope you enjoyed our photo's.
Thanks for visiting!!

New quilts and our trip.

2 weeks ago we had a lovely break with 9 friends at Alexandra. We stayed at the Vickery again which is great place set up for crafty girls ( or Guys!).
We had a very very productive weekend stitching our Summer School projects for Mrs Martins Quilt Shop stitch in day. This will be on the 18th January 2014, so the projects will be available soon for you to see. We have 6 new small quilts for the day. Stay tuned for more info soon.
While away we both brought these very handy bags that are really a sewing bag in disguise....they are meant to be toiletry bags but not any more.

And then they open up like this...

Also Lisa bought this very cool jar which now just happens to hold the bottoms of the prarie points she had to cut off as she is not a very good maths girl.....

She cut way too many points that were way to big

but once they were right and pined onto her Spring quilt for Lilly Patches Stitch in day on October 5th they looked like this......

Then all stitched down looked like this.....

Sunburst

The other projects for the day are Lou's Fly Away Peter wall quilt or runner

Lou's Family Garden stitchery also using pencils as water colours

And Lisa's Vintage Jewels

Also while away Lisa bought this gorgeous metal clip board with a bird magnet

When we went to Brisbane for the V&A show they have this super cute suitcase market. All the items are hand made.

Actually the smaller one also fits your phone or small camera quite nicely. They are made from a vinyl fabric so wipe clean for the lunches that will not be going in our pockets. They fit your hand piecing, scissors and thread quiet nicely for travelling, have a little velcro to keep them shut and come in a range of very cool designs. Now for all you face book people you can find her there, I think you have to like her????
Sorry that's Lou's specialty, but for those like me you can text her on 0404072231

Thanks for visiting, have a great day!!

Friends,shopping and a deadline!!

For those who know us crazy girls, you know we love nothing better to be burning the midnight hour for a deadline! But..... we got our quilts for Quilters Companion Magazine finished with a whole week to spare, and we were very excited. Clare recieved them safely, so now we will wait till they appear in print. We will be sure to post this day!

At our last class the girls were all very busy working on a range of different projects.
Maureen is working on our pattern, Tessellate, in great colours...

Robyn is working on our Cheddar Peels (from our Autumn in the Valley pattern)...

Divna is working on a Viv Robinson quilt which she enlarged the blocks for...

Karen is working on a "purple work" stitchery which looks great....

And Glenda is finishing off this quilt for her daughters wedding gift. She got all the guests to sign the backing. What a great way to remember your special day.....

We also went to Jeffs shed for a nice bit of shopping at Threadbear and to look at the fantastic quilts on display this year. A few of our friends won prizes this year. Congratulations to Sandra, Christine, Liz, Linda and also Leanne. This is the quilt Leanne quilted for a customer which is just beautiful.
Well done girls.

Here is Liz's quilt which she appliqued and quilted herself.

Also 2 other friends, Margaret and Jennifer were there with their new Applique Group.

This is a new group and the first meeting will be on Saturday October 5th.

We have nearly finished our Spring Fling quilts for our "quilt-in" day for Lilly Patches also on Saturday 5th October. Will post some pics soon of these.
Next weekend we are off to Daylesford for 3 days of R&R, and sewing of course!
Love weekends away with likeminded friends.

Have a great weekend!

Cats and quilts

Meet Mimi.  Mimi loves to sit and sleep on my quilts.....whilst I'm still working on them!!!
As much as I love our cats, sometimes it's very inconvenient.....like now! I'm trying to trim my quilt to sew the binding on.
The quilt she is on is my version of our Quilters Companion quilt.
Just a little sneak peek for you
Despite being a pain, Mimi is very cute!

Have a great week,

MIA......again!

We have been MIA (missing in action!) yet again.
Where is the time going lately?
We promise you though, we have been sewing up a storm, but we creating one of those
"you'll have to wait and see quilts"
We have been working very hard on our quilts for
Quilters Companion Magazine.
Here are some of those teaser pics we love.....

Here is the next border being cut out....

We are also working madly to get our projects done for Lilly Patches "Spring Quilt In" which will be on October 5th. It will be $50.00 for the day and we will have 4 new small quilts for the day!!!

We also said we would show you our treasures from our trip.

Lou's Treasures

And Lisa's Treasures

We also bought sets of the Bloc Loc rulers which are a really great tool to use.
Any one else tried them out?

We got the squares and flying geese sets

The post man also came today and delivered this layer cake...

Love the yellow prints in this range.

Well that's about all I can show you at the moment.
Is anyone going to "Jeff's Shed" in a couple of weeks to the Melbourne Quilt Show??

We will be there Saturday.

Have fun!

WOW where have we been over the last week!!!!

Well it is fair to say that the past week and a half has been an exciting blur!
We were going to do a few separate posts........
obviously that has just not happened yet sorry.
So here we go on our journey.

We arrived in Sydney bright and early to spend the day at the Sydney Quilt Show,
and spend we did!!!
Sorry we have not got pics of our treasures as yet and Lisa may have added some of hers to a project started yesterday which will be revealed further down this post!!!
So we'll get that done on the weekend and show you our goodies.

This is the upstairs view of the show.

This is such a beautiful show.  And great shops too.

After the show we headed off to Quiltsmith to meet up with Melinda the owner, to show her our quilts. Quiltsmith is a stockist for our patterns and has currently got our Tessellate quilts and Lou's Unknown Quilt on display.

Saturday saw us spend the morning and Darling Harbour and the day was just perfect.

That afternoon we hopped on the plane again to head to Brisbane.
We enjoyed some yummy snacks and some stitching time.

We stayed near a lovely little street with cafes and antique shops where we were amazed at the most gorgeous lights, so cute......

The next morning we headed to Southbank for
We like to think we got matching tattoos to remember our visit. LOL.
We just loved it, the book (Quilts 1700 - 2010: Hidden Histories, Untold Stories)
colours do not even come close to the amazing fabrics in these quilts. we spent hours there just studying the colours, fabrics and stitching.
if you get to go up to the Exhibition you really won't be disappointed.
There is a little shop that you can buy postcards etc from with some of the quilts and the book is well worth it also if you have not already got it.

Just outside there were the fantastic drummers playing.

On the Monday saw us take a little detour to visit the Patchwork Tree!!
what a lovely shop and yes more purchases.

Seriously how much luggage can 6 ladies have for a few days!!!!

So we came back to the real world (and rain and cold).
On Friday night we had our friendship group at Junes where we purchased the new light pad (yes, we had to have one each!).
What a very cool toy!!!

And Fiona finished this top ready to be quilted after she makes a pieced backing from the left over fabrics.

Nice feet!!!

Then yesterday saw us spend a really lovely day with our friends Bev, Linda & Co
to stitch with the very talented and inspiring
Margaret Sampson George from Sydney.
Seriously, Google her quilts; They are amazing.
They're inspired by Antique Quilts with a lot of Marg's personal touches.
She uses a huge array of fabrics, anything you can think of really, and it just works!

Lou and I are doing her crib quilt so will show you as we progress.
We had a very enjoyable day.

So there you have it. Now back to our deadlines of the Quilters Companion Quilt, Spring Fling for October with Lilly Patches and Summer School for January with Mrs Martin's.

We will get the treasures together over the weekend and show you what we brought!!

Thanks for stopping by.
